LOUD: Please, turn it down
On Friday Aug. 26, a "Rock Hard at the Park" was held at the Greyhound Park and Event Center in Post Falls. It started at 3:10 p.m. and continued until 10 p.m. However, starting Thursday night until 10 p.m., then again Friday morning at 8, they were practicing and doing sound checks.
Now we don't live right by the Greyhound Park, we live across I-90 in the Woodbridge subdivision. We are subjected to the excessive noise any time there is an event at the Greyhound Park. We are not against events the city chooses to put on, but when the noise is so loud it rattles our windows and shakes the pictures on our wall, with the doors and windows closed, we feel this is a little loud.
On Friday an email was sent to the city of Post Falls in regard to, what we felt, was excessive noise. Terry Werner responded with "... Over the years we have received complaints for the different events and have monitored the noise level. Complaints have been called into our Police, but being an event City, we have not found the noise level to be above the allowed db."
First of all, we thought this was the "Tree City," not an event city, second of all what is the allowed db? Does this mean if the noise is not heard in Rathdrum it is not above the allowed db? Also, if the city has received complaints for the different events, doesn't that tell you maybe the db should be checked again? The next time an event is held at the Greyhound Park, we would love to have some of the Post Falls City Council members, or even the mayor, come to our house and witness the noise level we endure. We do not understand why the sound has to be so loud that it carries a mile away, able to hear what is being said, and having our windows and pictures shaking.
