9/11: Fuel for new patriotism

| September 16, 2011 10:00 PM

I remember exactly what I was doing when the planes hit the towers, just as many of us probably do. It was the first time for me I actually felt "injured" as an American. I was 23 years old. Since then I have had more patriotism than was ever instilled in me as a child.

I voted and was active in a historical presidential election in which Obama was elected. And recently the terrorist responsible for the 9/11 tragedy has been killed in his presidency. I reflect 10 years later on this 9/11 and feel more proud to be an American than I would have had this not had happened, even though it was such a terrible and life changing event.

I am proud to be an American and everything our country stands for. To me, that is much more important than the muddy politics that is beginning to once again pollute our media.
