New esthetician course to be offered through Workforce Training Center

Estheticians primarily focus on care of the skin, encompassing nonsurgical procedures promoting the health and beauty of skin including facials, waxing and makeup. In more than 11 years in the field, Kerri Moore Casteel said she has seen the molding together of health and wellness into a domain previously ruled by beauty alone and beauty at whatever cost.

Graduates of a new esthetician course offered through the North Idaho College Workforce Training Center beginning Oct. 17 will be able to apply for the written and practical exams to obtain an Idaho state license.

The 15-week course consists of classroom instruction and practical experience through the student-operated clinic. Training includes facial and body treatments, temporary hair removal, professional makeup application, use of skin care equipment, skin analysis and retail skills.

Those interested in the course can attend an information session from 6-7 p.m. today, Sept. 13 at the NIC Workforce Training Center in Post Falls.
