Marvella Werner, 82
On a beautiful Sept. 10, 2011, day, Marvella "Marvie" Lavonne Werner left us to continue her journey through the heaven.
Marvie was born Nov. 16, 1928, in Coeur d'Alene to Walter and Ruby (Leach) Beasley. Her youth was spent chasing her beloved father through the Coeur d'Alene national forest where he surveyed and laid out most of the roads.
After achieving stunning beauty, she became a model and was quickly wooed to marry Thomas D. Landers. Working closely with Tom at the IXL Toggery, she learned the retail clothing business. They adopted Tommy, Jr. in July 1952, and were the proudest of all parents. After a brief business venture in Bakersfield, Calif., the three returned to Coeur d'Alene to start Thorndal's Ladies clothing store. With Big Tom's death in 1961, she was left to run the business and raise her son alone.
In the summer of 1963, Richard "Dick" J. Werner encountered the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. That started a 48-year adventure for the three of them. As a Standard Oil Executive, Dick moved the family to the San Francisco Bay area. After Tom's graduation from high school, they started their quest of following him around the country. After a 30-year stint in Boulder, Colo., the family relocated to Livingston, Mont. All agreed the move to "Paradise" was heaven-sent.
Everyone who ever met Marvie will miss her outstanding sparkle and "half-full" attitude. No person was more positive in life than Marvella; a truly wonderful wife, mom, friend, and inspiration to all she touched.
Marvie is survived by son, Tom (Linda) Werner, of Livingston, Mont.; nephews, Mike (April) Beasley, of Spokane; and Philip Beasley, of Detroit, Mich.; and niece, Jonelle Beasley, of Snohomish, Wash.
A celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Tom and Linda's home in Livingston.
