ELECTION: Ready, set - vote!
Hello friends, it's Julie Clark here. What could have been a fun community project has now turned into a campaign issue: McEuen Field. It will be a happy day for Coeur d'Alene when some improvements are finally accomplished on McEuen Field. I envision removable baseball fences, soccer games, volleyball, an improved boat launch, extra parking south of City Hall, a fantastic children's play area, skateboards and dogs.
It could be important for the citizens of Coeur d'Alene to prepare for the November election by being registered to vote. You may recall that our mayor and some council members have stated that they have been elected to represent the common citizen. Therefore, no public advisory vote on the McEuen plan will be allowed or discussed.
The Kootenai County Elections office is located at 1808 N. Third St. in Coeur d'Alene and it is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You may register there or at City Hall. You may register right up to Election Day but if you register 30 days before the election, you must provide proof of residency in the form of a power bill or an I.D./driver's license card of some sort with your current address on it. If you want to make double sure that you are registered, you may call (208) 446-1030 and the nice folks there will look it up for you.
If you do not have transportation, you may call the representative of a political party to help provide a ride: Democrat 763-3361; Republican 765-8259.
