ILLNESS: Help girl fight back

| September 9, 2011 10:00 PM

Hello. My name is Caitlyn Conner. I am 15 years old and battle many medical issues not many normal 15-year-olds battle. Today I am writing a letter to ask for your help.

One of the diseases I was diagnosed with early June of this year was Alopecia Areata. September is the awareness month of Alopecia; not many people know about this autoimmune disease and there are not very many cures. I'm 15 and now wear a wig because of this disease, as the treatments that most doctors give rarely work. Alopecia affects 4.7 million people yearly; that is 2 percent of the human population, yet most people you ask have no clue what it is.

At the age of 15 I have learned to accept what I have and want to educate others and support and help other kids, teens and adults who suffer from this disease. With this letter, I hope to get the word out by starting out big and ending huge. This is now my dream that I hope to fulfill.
