MEALS: County without a heart

| September 6, 2011 10:00 PM

I read the article about the county refusing to help fund Meals on Wheels. I was dismayed, then ABSOLUTELY outraged when I read the letter that was sent to the Kootenai County seniors.

The commissioners were sorry for any inconvenience that may be caused because elderly shut-ins may be going without a hot meal from now on. You see, the seniors did not provide a return of investment. When does Christian charity need a return on investment?

I am absolutely appalled at how unfeeling the commissioners are. Makes me proud to be a Democrat. If this is the future with Republican government, you the people had better hope that your death comes before you become poor and infirm. I guess Idaho is just for the rich that can hire care and poor people should do their duty and die early.

My husband and I had better get going and die early as we are only middle class. Maybe the commissioners will set up a list and let the middle class and the poor know when we should die because we are costing the system too much during our decline.

When did Kootenai County become so unfeeling toward the very people that have helped our great nation become what it is today?

I will be ashamed to tell anyone that I am from Kootenai County, the county without scruples. SHAME ON YOU commissioners!
