Webster's late goal helps T-Wolves earn tie with Trojans

POST FALLS - Senior midfielder Nikki Webster scored an unassisted goal for Lake City in the 73rd minute as the Timberwolves and Post Falls Trojans played to a 3-3 tie in a 5A Inland Empire League girls soccer match on Thursday.

"We started a little slow and ended the game a little slow," Post Falls coach Briggs Anderson said. "We controlled most of the play outside of those slow periods, but we fought back and went into the second half with the lead and then they took control of the game and tied it in the final 10 minutes."

Kelsey Hedge scored three goals for Post Falls (1-2-1, 0-1-1 5A IEL), which travels to Moses Lake on Saturday.

Alissa Joliff had a goal and an assist for Lake City (1-0-2, 0-0-1), which hosts Lewis and Clark of Spokane on Thursday.

Amanda Riley had two assists and a goal as the Badgers defeated the Lumberjacks in an Intermountain League match.

"We finally had 12 girls on the bus," said St. Maries coach Paul Ebert, who had to forfeit Saturday's game at Orofino. "Bonners just played well today and had good team speed. We've got some things to work on and continue to work on them in practice."

Chelsea Thaut had 14 saves for St. Maries (0-4, 0-3 IML), which travels to Freeman on Thursday.

Monique Hendrickson scored on an assist by Kate Connor in the 70th minute for Orofino.

Timberlake (1-3-1, 1-2-1 IML) hosts St. Maries on Sept. 10.

Orofino is also 1-2-1 in league.

KALISPELL, Mont. -

Leo Schnepf scored in the 60th minute to lift the Hawks past Stillwater Christian in a nonleague match.

Schnepf also scored in the 13th minute for Lakeland (2-1-2), which showed up for the match an hour late after having their school bus break down near Bonners Ferry.

"We got to Bonners Ferry and the bus was leaking oil," Lakeland coach Nick Haynes said. "We had to trade buses with their district and drive the rest of the way. They're a good team and we were playing our third game in four days. We came out pretty flat, but found a way to win."

Lakeland travels to Sandpoint on Tuesday.

ST. MARIES - Kylie Curtis had 16 kills and 14 assists as Lake City defeated the Lumberjacks 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 in a nonleague match.

"I thought we played OK against a really good team," St. Maries coach Missy Asbury said. "Lake City came out on fire and we couldn't block them. Without any blocks, we just couldn't dig up the ball. We had some rallies and did some good things, but we'll learn from our mistakes and continue to get better each game."

Jennifer Schuman had 15 kills and four aces, Camille Rounds 21 assists and Katie Winger six digs for Lake City (1-1), which travels to Post Falls on Tuesday.

Jaylee Sines had 26 assists, Marlee Masterson 13 kills, Mariah Gladden eight kills and two blocks and Lankin Anxo four digs for St. Maries (4-2), which travels to Bonners Ferry on Thursday.

Lakeland

RATHDRUM - Taylor Samuelson had 11 assists and seven kills as the Wildcats defeated the Hawks 27-25, 25-23, 20-25, 26-24 in a nonleague match at Hawk Court.

"We defended the ball really well, but we missed 16 serves," Lakeland coach Kylee Garitone said. "We're not going to win many games unless we step up our serving. It was good to play so many close games because it really pushed them to compete."

Maddi Ray had six kills and three blocks, Jayne VanSlate six kills and Sonora Wilkes 15 assists for Lakeland (1-4), which travels to Freeman on Thursday.

CLARK FORK - The Tigers defeated the Wampus Cats 25-19, 25-19, 25-20 in a nonleague match.

Kelly Madsen and Maddison Hauck had six kills apiece, Brooke Murray 11 assists and Amanda Swanson seven aces for Timberlake (3-0), which hosts Kellogg on Tuesday.

Timberlake girls perfect at invite

PRIEST RIVER - The Timberlake girls took the five top spots, earning a perfect score of 15 to win the Ivan Benson Invitational.

"We've never had a perfect score," Timberlake coach Shawn Lawler said. "So to get a 15 is a fantastic day. We focus on chemistry and being there for each other on the course, and it really shows on race day."

Junior Ashly George led the way with a time of 21:04.

Brooke Nowlan finished second (21:22), Rachel Ward third (21:54), Dominique Vanderwilt fourth (22:20) and Natalie Herring fifth (22:39).

Micah Krmpotich took first for Bonners Ferry, turning in a time of 17:20 to help the Badgers win the boy's title.
