Patricia Ann Stewart, 68
Patricia passed away Sept. 1, 2011, at her cherished log cabin home in Post Falls. She was born May 12, 1943, in Bloomsburg, Pa., to Robert and Violet (Wirt) Hitchen.
Patricia attended Bloomsburg High School, graduating in 1961. In 1979 she met and married Roger Stewart of Windsor, Colo. Patricia not only fell in love with Roger, but also his love for all things outdoors, especially bowhunting, becoming the sport's first female icon. Patricia is a former president of the Alaskan Bowhunters Association and founded Bowhunters of America.
In 1990 their mutual love of hunting and good weather brought them to Post Falls where she settled to create the life of her dreams. As an active member of the Valley Assembly of God Church she found her true church family. Anyone born in the church in the past 20 years was cradled by Patricia in the babies' nursery. While always giving her all to her job as wife, mother, sister, daughter and church member she still found time to be a dental assistant, pilot and green thumb gardener.
The Lord called Patricia home after a courageous six-month battle with lung cancer. She was excited to be reunited with friends and family that were called on before her. Much of her peace in the final days came from her knowledge that she would get to spend eternity with her nearest and dearest friends and family.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Roger; sister Elizabeth; children Karen, Bobby, Matthew and Monty; grandchildren Jennifer, Jessica, Matthew and Michael; and her beloved dog, Shadow, who knew all her secrets, hopes and dreams, but so far is honoring her privacy. She will be dearly missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Valley Assembly of God Church, 15618 E. Broadway Ave., Spokane Valley. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Pleasant View Cemetery, Post Falls.
Contributions can be made in honor of Patricia to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden. Please view her online memorial and video tribute at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
