Mary Alice Swanson, 89

Mary Alice Swanson, was born March 13, 1922, in Pocatello. She passed away Oct. 22, 2011, at the age of 89.

She lived a brave and honorable life becoming a World War II Navy Wave in 1942-1944. She achieved her master's degree at Idaho State College and went on to teach English at the University of Arizona. She later became a social worker in the state of Arizona and retired and moved home to Idaho in 1986.

She leaves behind her brother, Peter Swanson; sister Elizabeth Fiselman; daughter Colleen O'Dowd; grandchildren, Casey, Adamen and Lukas O'Dowd and four wonderful great-grandchildren, Caleb, Kaley, Blake and Madeleine.
