POWER: Sacrifice must be shared
Here I sit, writing this letter to the editor in response to the Sunday, Oct. 16 letter to the editor which was written by Jim Wordelman and had the heading, "Medicare: Power to the people." To Mr. Wordelman and all his followers at the AARP, I want to the send the following message: The United States of American is broke! No Money!"
If you can't process the above message you need to seek immediate professional help. No longer can citizens of this country continue to elect and re-elect politicians who continue to tell lies to them. In reality, Mr. Wordelman, you and your AARP followers are one of the main reasons America has gotten into this financial mess. You have continually voted for those individuals, Democrats, who made you promises which you knew all along could not be kept. Truth is something which does not change, even if you choose not to believe it.
Your letter made several statements which are not worth my time attacking. My real purpose in the drafting of this letter is to inform people that something needs to be done, and fast, as it pertains to the financial condition of this country. You know it. I know it. Others know it. Using scare rhetoric no longer works, Mr. Wordelman. To you and all AARP members I say, "Stop flim-flamming," and start telling people the truth.
The truth is shared sacrifice is needed and it is needed now. Changes will affect all of us. Children, young adults, middle aged and retired people. No longer can you and your AARP group pretend that "you own the sacred cow" and that it can't be touched. It can be touched, it needs to be touched and with strong political leadership, will be touched!
Fact: Today there are three active workers to one person who is on social security/medicare benefits. In just 20 years there will be only two active workers for one social security/medicare recipient. Stop the "flim-flam." By the way, I just turned 67 a few days ago. The "chickens" that you and your AARP followers turned loose on society over the past decades are now coming home to roost. Regrettably, America hasn't enough "feed" for them. Sometimes the truth hurts.
