McEUEN: Unpopular and unwise

| October 21, 2011 10:00 PM

This is how much the majority of respondents on the most recent cdapress.com poll think should be spent on McEuen Park.

Here's the breakdown:

• 142 voters (12 percent) think less than $5 million should be spent on the park

• 190 voters (16 percent) think more than $5 million should be spent on the park

• 876 voters (73 percent) think nothing should be spent

The mayor and her progressives voted against the will of the people. They need to be removed from office. They have over stepped their power and have abused the voters of Coeur d'Alene. We have a city council election coming up and there are three people running for office that will stop this insane spending: Steve Adams, Dan Gookin and Ron Edinger.

This election needs to be a turning point for the tax and spend progressives that want to tax you out of your home. The mayor is not telling us the truth about the funding. The LCDC is funded with property taxes. Your taxes and my taxes. When you have an abuse of power such as this, the city needs a new direction. To spend $39 million tax dollars to change the McEuen park into something that 73 percent of the people of Coeur d'Alene do not want is an abuse of power.

The mayor and the City Council should change their direction and put this for a public vote in November. After all isn't this the way our system works?
