FREEDOM: Comes in all shapes, sizes

| October 21, 2011 10:00 PM

It seems that a number of subscribers have objected to the Kon Tiki and Stateline Showgirls ads as being pornographic. Apparently all other content is fine. Does Faith Normington let any of her five children read the paper? The comics? If so, ask your children if they fill in the blanks.

Sunday, Oct. 16, "Pearls Before Swine" - What does "@#*$#$@" mean? The substitution of characters for words occurs all the time in the comics. Sarge in "Beetle Bailey" is quite prolific in his speech sometimes. Also recently the "Luann" comic is dealing with teen issues. The Saturday, Oct. 15 strip is quite to the point about what children know. And, how about those lingerie ads that are in all the advertisements - ladies in underwear with some come hither looks? Not much different than the Kon Tiki ads. Freedom of the press - love it or leave it.
