Listening to business

| October 15, 2011 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - Lewis-Clark State College-Coeur d'Alene and the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce are partnering to host a free event called "The Business of Listening" next Wednesday.

"The goal of the Business of Listening is simply to hear from the business community about what it wants from higher education in North Idaho," said Cyndie Hammond, executive director of Lewis-Clark State College-Coeur d'Alene. "Our foundations were built in the business community and this is another example of our commitment to serve the people who live and work here."

The event runs from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19 and will be held at the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce.

"The Post Falls Chamber believes it needs to work closely with the higher education institutions because a skilled and educated workforce is critical to our economy," said Chamber President and CEO Pam Houser. "We think this is a tremendous opportunity."

Representatives from the LCSC-CDA business division and the North Idaho College Business Department will be on hand.

"It's an opportunity to find out how we're doing and what we can do better," said Eric Pemberton, LCSC-CDA Business Division advisor. "Hopefully, we'll be able to make changes to our program based on what we hear. Our business students should be able to provide cutting edge business practices when they graduate."

The event is open to members of the Post Falls Chamber of Commerce.
