Woman shot in chest during scuffle, Idaho Falls man arrested

IDAHO FALLS (AP) - A 26-year-old Idaho Falls man is in custody on suspicion of aggravated battery after a 24-year-old woman was shot in the chest while the two fought over the gun.

Idaho Falls Police say Russell Keith Poulsen was arrested early Tuesday. The shooting was reported at 3:30 a.m.

Investigating officers determined Poulsen became upset when he found his roommate and the woman having sex. Police say he confronted them and then grabbed a .22 caliber handgun from his bedroom.

The woman began scuffling with Poulsen trying to take the gun away when it discharged, hitting her in the chest.
