HAYDEN: Holiday parade is Dec. 3
The city of Hayden will hold its 6th annual "Hayden Lights" Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Hayden City Park, 8930 N. Government Way on Saturday, Dec. 3. We invite the public to enjoy this tremendous event.
The parade starts at 5 p.m. beginning at Hayden Avenue and will proceed south in the northbound lane of Government Way to Honeysuckle Avenue. Government Way will be closed to traffic during the parade from Hayden to Honeysuckle Avenue. Roadways will be reopened to traffic once parade units have passed. For the best view of the parade, please stand along on the east side of Government Way.
Free hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be served in the Hayden City Park gazebo following the parade. The Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony will immediately follow the parade at Hayden City Park. Entertainment will include musical presentations by the Atlas and Hayden Meadows Elementary Special Choruses. The Christmas tree will be lighted by Mayor Ron McIntire with the assistance of local children.
The evening's events will be highlighted by the appearance of Santa Claus, who will then proceed to Hayden City Hall Council Chambers to listen to children's wishes and pass out treats.
Donations will be accepted for the USMRC Toys for Tots campaign. This year's event has been made possible through donations by STCU, Super 1 Foods, Boy Scouts of America-Dalton Elementary Pack 226, Runge Furniture and Mary Bierwagen/Wildtree Products.
Businesses and organizations interested in participating in the parade should call the city of Hayden at 209-1080 or visit the city of Hayden website at www.cityofhaydenid.us for an application. Parade applications are due at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28.
