McEUEN: Three strikes on column

| November 18, 2011 9:00 PM

Deanna Goodlander's My Turn column regarding the McEuen Field development project leaves out three important points:

1. The removal of the baseball field and Third Street dock in its current state is not popular nor supported by the vast majority of constituents within the city limits.

2. There is absolutely categorically no properties that are of equal value as replacements for said field and dock/boat launch. The McEuen Field/Third Street dock property is the most valuable piece of real estate in the state of Idaho. Nothing can replace the "value" of that, although Ms. Goodlander is willing to accept the taxpayer being denied "true value."

3. Your decision not to bring this issue up for public review is as much a rationalization as saying the sun gets in the eyes of baseball players playing on that particular field. By the way, the sun gets in the eyes of all athletes who happen to participate outside anywhere on a sunny day.
