Joshua Martin Pierce, 25

| November 11, 2011 9:00 PM

Joshua Martin Pierce, 25-year-old Burley resident, passed away Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011.

Born Nov. 14, 1985, in Jerome he was the second of two children. His first four years were spent in Wendell. In January 1990, his family moved to Burley where his father took a job at Bonanza Motors.

Joshua attended public kindergarten at Springdale School. He attended Calvary Christian School from first grade until eighth grade, at which point he began public school at Burley High School. He wanted at that time to go to a military academy and needed some language and extra schooling not available from the private school. He graduated BHS in 2004 with a high GPA which made his parents very proud.

After stretching his wings to Oregon State University he decided not to go to the military instead he came home to Burley for a breather. He later decided to go to North Idaho College and pursue a welding degree. He has lived in Coeur d'Alene for the past four years working for Lone Wolf construction and MoCo in the welding fabrication field. He was well loved and appreciated at both places. He was a good, thorough and precise worker, never doing anything halfway.

Josh made friends wherever he went, he didn't think so but everyone liked Josh. He was just a likeable fella. Joshua always missed the Burley area because of the great hunting and hiking areas. In one direction there is miles and miles of desert: Oh the things he could find in the desert. And the other direction was the mountains that housed the big mule deer he always longed to get. Josh loved the great outdoors always taking numerous pictures. We don't know what he shot more of his guns or his camera.

Josh was involved in scouting in his younger years. After seeing a newscast about the Civil Air Patrol he was on a mission to join. He made his mother call to get details and learned he had to wait a year to be old enough to join, I think that was the longest year of his life. He loved CAP and learned a lot. His most memorable times were when he went up in the plane with Dr. Brown and getting to run the controls. Also when he went to Colorado to the Air Force Base for a week long encampment. He loved every minute of it - well maybe not ironing his uniform.

He is survived by his parents, Tim and Brenda Pierce of Burley; sister Brandie of Rupert; and four very special nieces, Michelle, Becca, Charlee and Dezie.

Josh is preceded in death by grandma Hazel Pierce; grandma Royce; four cousins, Viola Kinnamon, Davin Gossett, Suzie and Kelley Parish; and his uncle, Michael William Royce.

We will miss you Joshua Martin Pierce. You were a GREAT son, brother and friend.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 515 West 27th St., Burley, with Pastor John Ramey, officiating. Cremation services are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home & Crematory in Rupert.
