PRESIDENT: We need a leader
As I witness the day to day rhetoric concerning current economic conditions and the direction that our country is heading, I am becoming increasingly concerned about a couple of issues.
In respect to the ongoing debate among the presidential hopefuls for the next election, one can only wonder if the electorate really believe that any one person could have the vast knowledge that it would take to address all problems. We all know that there is not a person in the entire United States of America that possesses that kind of knowledge. The solutions offered by the various candidates are helpful in keeping the needs of the people in the forefront, but we need to keep in mind that what we really need is to elect a REAL LEADER... One that recognizes the needs and is of the mind and philosophy to obtain counseling and advice from the people that are directly involved in the problem areas. One that also recognizes that the answer does NOT include government intervention. Unfortunately, we have not observed this type of LEADERSHIP. A political ally does not usually have the expertise to advise the president on economic, foreign relations and social issues. IN SHORT, LET'S STOP LOOKING FOR STAR QUALITY IN OUR PRESIDENT AND ZERO IN ON A REAL LEADER.
My other concern has to do with term limits. I believe that two terms should be the limit for both Congress and the Senate. When term limits were imposed on the president, it was because of real concerns that our Democratic system was in jeopardy. It is puzzling to me how anyone who is thinking correctly would not arrive at the same conclusion for Congress and the Senate. Longer terms simply leave too much opportunity for abuse. Call me the suspicious type, but I have often wondered how persons who have held no position in life other than in politics become multi-millionaires on their salary.
