McEUEN: Three cheers for leaders

I applaud the McEuen Park Steering Committee and the Coeur d'Alene City Council for their vision and courage in conceiving and supporting a grand plan for the redevelopment of McEuen Park, a plan that does justice to our community's magnificent waterfront setting.

If the Steering Committee and City Council had bowed to the vocal minority, set their sights low, and cast their votes for mediocrity, we would surely reap nothing more than mediocrity.

Fortunately, my generation, my children and my grandchildren will enjoy the fruits of their grand vision, hard work and courage, which should serve as an example for our community and country: great things are only achieved where a great vision lights the way.
