McEUEN: Ron stands up for us

| May 29, 2011 10:00 PM

I am writing this for two reasons. One is to disprove an old saying, and the other is to say thank you.

I will start with the old saying, "The only two things you can count on are death and taxes." Well there is another thing you can count on, and that is that city councilman Ron Edinger will vote for what is best for this city, and not just what is best for the pocketbook.

Unfortunately he is always outnumbered because he is the only one who votes that way. I would love to see how many times there were crucial votes concerning this city where he was alone in the way he voted.

You can bet, however he voted, it was with the best interest of Coeur d'Alene in mind. And for that reason I want to say thank you to him. As a born and raised resident of this beautiful city, I appreciate his attempting to protect it however he can.

Having spent a lot of time on the local softball fields, I remember Ron Edinger as an umpire. He was fair, open minded and always did his best to make the right call.

He has not changed, as he is still doing that to this day. So, for his integrity, honesty and caring for the citizens of Coeur d'Alene, and for his obvious love of the city itself, I want to say a big Thank You, and Job Well Done to councilman Edinger.
