TWIN FALLS - An investigation by the Ada County prosecutor's office and the Idaho State Police has cleared a Twin Falls police officer of any wrongdoing for shooting a man who officers say was driving toward a patrol car.

The Times-News reports prosecutors declined to file charges against Officer Isaiah Day in the April 5 shooting of Lee Randall Fife.

Investigators say Day fired six shots into Fife's vehicle following a high-speed pursuit in which Fife was cornered on a dead-end street. Officers say Fife tried to ram patrol cars with his vehicle and was shot three times.

Fife faces a September trial on charges of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and eluding officers.

Day was placed on administrative leave for about two weeks after the shooting.
