McEUEN: Why same is better

| May 22, 2011 10:00 PM

Before the mayor and City Council decide to take away a recreational playground and replace it with a parkade and cluttered park that few will use, McEuen Field, the boat dock and Tubbs Hill have given great pleasure to kids and the ordinary citizen for more than half a century. I hope they will be fair and heartfelt to 90 percent of the people who want McEuen Field left as is.

Why: When the government talks about bankruptcy, Coeur d'Alene talks about spending multi-millions on an unnecessary project.

Coeur d'Alene needs downtown parking, so why not build a parkade to replace the empty Elks Building, convenient to all downtown, and funded by LCDC taxpayer money that is now planned to be used to wipe out our beloved McEuen Field - and easy access by boaters to Lake Coeur d'Alene, and leave alone our Freedom Tree dedicated to our loyal servicemen and let Tubbs Hill stay untamed and uncluttered.
