McEUEN: Thumbs up to park plan

On behalf of the Downtown Business Community and our Board of Directors, I would like to voice our unwavering support for the plan developed by the McEuen Park Steering Committee.

The time and energy the committee put into soliciting ideas and filtering them down to develop the design concept for McEuen Park was a daunting challenge indeed, but has resulted in the concept to benefit the greatest number of people throughout all seasons of the year. The Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association was privileged to have a board member serve on that committee so we had a front row view as the project evolved from the list of ideas to the master plan unveiled last Thursday.

The Downtown Association Board has always supported the expanded utilization of McEuen Park, the library and the downtown core to encourage more families to choose downtown as a place to live, work and play.

We would also like to thank the council members for their vision and tenacity to take on the issue of redeveloping this very important asset for the citizens of Coeur d'Alene. Also, we thank all of the citizens who participated in the process.

As a result of your determination and dedication, Coeur d'Alene will soon have an exciting new multi-purpose park we can all share for many generations.
