SING: Openings for young guys
Great article about the Lake City Harmonizers' 30 years; but I'd like to point out a significant addition to the information. I would inform all young men that while the regular dues of the national Barbershop Harmony Society is $120 a year, any man younger than 25 can join for $10 for a first year. That way, if he doesn't have the time of his life, he hasn't squandered much.
Also, our founding father, Bob Thackston has certainly been kidding us along as he claims to be much younger than 79. And he doesn't look a day over 70!
I, as a charter member with Bob, strongly urge any young man who likes to sing to make time one night per week to come and ring some chords. I certainly wish I'd done so at a younger age instead of waiting ‘til my kids were out of the nest. Mondays, 7 p.m., Lake City Community Church.
