NIC women finish tied for 11th
Freshman Rachel Westby of Post Falls shot a four-day total of 370 for 58th place to lead North Idaho College, which finished tied for 11th place with Columbus State with 1,514 strokes at the 19-team NJCAA women's golf tournament at the LPGA International Golf Club on Thursday in Daytona Beach, Fla.
"We were hoping for a top-10 finish," NIC assistant coach Randy Boswell said. "That rough patch on Tuesday really put us out of contention. The girls never gave up and kept battling. For only having the program six years, we'll take 11th and hold our heads high."
Freshman Natalia Arlint shot a personal best 87 on Thursday for NIC.
"I'm really proud of Natalia," Boswell said. "She came out and shot an 87. She had a couple bad days and got a little emotional. She came out today and played more relaxed and had the second-best round for us this week."
Mitsuki Kataharia shot a 290 to earn medalist honors for host Daytona State, which won its second straight NJCAA title with 1,195 shots.
