Bert Vanderbilt, 101

Bert Vanderbilt, 101, passed away May 18, 2011, in Coeur d'Alene. He was born March 6, 1910, to John and Jenny Blankenspoor in Rock City, Iowa.

He married Mary Donkelaar in 1933 in Juneau, Alaska, where they had a son and daughter. They settled on a farm in East Hayden Lake. Bert and son operated a small sawmill and planer in the area until Bert's retirement. He married Grace Barber in 1948 and settled in Athol.

Bert is survived by his son and wife, Bud and Mary Vanderbilt of Hayden Lake; daughter Jeanette Miller of Athol; four grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren and brother John Vanderbilt of California.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; great-granddaughter Pennie Miller; sister Henrietta and brothers Hank, Art, Bernard, Maase and Cornelius.

No services will be held. English Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
