Jean Hazel (Randall) Baker, 80
Jean Hazel (Randall) Baker, 80, passed away Friday, May 6, 2011, in her home in Post Falls. She was born at home on Feb. 13, 1931, in Sharon, Wis., to Frank and Helen Randall.
Jean grew up in Sharon and married Glen James "Jim" Baker at the age of 18 upon graduation from high school. They divorced in 1970 and she became a single mother to five sons and one daughter. Jean supported her family as an emergency room nurse at Lakeland Hospital in Elkhorn, Wis., where she worked for 15 years.
Jean moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1981 to be near her adult children. She helped raise her granddaughter, passing on her love of playing cards and working puzzles. Jean enjoyed hosting family gatherings and holiday parties in her home. She loved to spend time with her family and friends while eating out. Over the years she learned how to create stained glass and crochet and had a massive bell collection. Each fall she looked forward to returning to her hometown in Wisconsin to visit family and friends and to attend the Walworth County Fair. She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Coeur d'Alene.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son, Reno; sisters June Stowell and Jeannette Beeten; and brothers Leon Randall and Dale Randall.
She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Jim Baker and his fiancee Linda Polimeni, Larry Baker, Scott Baker, Bonnie and Mark Potter, Bruce and Kathy Baker, and Barry Baker, all from the Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls area. Jean loved her grandchildren, Daniel Murphy and wife Tineke, William Baker, Cameron Mowery, Madeline Baker and Harrison Baker. She was a proud great-grandmother to Katie and Samuel Murphy.
Services will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011, at the old Methodist church (618 Wallace Ave., Coeur d'Alene). Burial will take place in Sharon.
