Max Scherzer won his sixth consecutive decision, Victor Martinez hit a two-run homer and the visiting Detroit Tigers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-5 on Monday night.

Scherzer (6-0) has not lost in eight starts this season. His season-opening winning streak is the longest by a Tigers pitcher since Jeremy Bonderman won eight straight in 2007.

Scherzer allowed two runs and five hits in five innings, matching his shortest start of the year. He walked three and struck out five.

Athletics 7, Rangers 2: At Arlington, Texas, Trevor Cahill pitched seven strong innings to earn his sixth straight win to start the season and Josh Willingham homered and drove in five runs and Oakland beat Texas.

Cahill matched the major league lead with his sixth victory, and equaled his career best by winning his seventh consecutive decision. The 23-year-old right-hander struck out seven, walked one and allowed five hits. He became Oakland's first 6-0 starter in 21 years.

Red Sox 2, Twins 1, 11 inn.: Pinch-runner Jose Iglesias raced around from first to score on close play at the plate on Carl Crawford's one-out double off the left-field wall in the bottom of the 11th inning, lifting host Boston over Minnesota.

Boston beat Minnesota the final three games of a four-game series, and won for the 11th time in 12 games in Fenway Park.

White Sox 8, Angels 0: At Anaheim, Calif., Edwin Jackson pitched seven superb innings for his first victory in more than a month, Carlos Quentin homered and drove in five runs, and Chicago routed Los Angeles.

Jackson scattered five hits, struck out five and walked one after going winless in his previous five starts since beating Tampa Bay 5-1 on April 7. The right-hander finally got some run support after four consecutive outings in which his teammates failed to score while he was in the game.
