POST FALLS - A 27-year-old Post Falls man was arrested Saturday morning after he allegedly left the scene of a vehicle accident that hospitalized a female.

Steven William Johnston was booked into the Kootenai County Jail after the accident on Spokane Street at Interstate 90. He was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Johnston's Blazer was found parked at the scene of the accident. He was later arrested at gunpoint and without incident at his home.

Johnston told police that he left the accident because he "got scared" and didn't have insurance.

The female suffered a fractured pelvis, hip and tailbone, according to police reports.

Johnston had minor injuries and refused medical treatment.
