Shock fall to former coach, expansion Power

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Jason Willis caught a 6-yard touchdown pass from Bernard Morris with 50 seconds left for the go-ahead points as the expansion Power defeated the defending Arena Football League champion Spokane Shock 51-41 on Saturday night in front of 6,756 at the Consol Energy Center.

Spokane (3-5) defensive back Terrance Sanders returned the opening kickoff 57 yards for a touchdown and the Shock took a 27-14 lead at halftime after holding the Power scoreless in the second quarter.

Pittsburgh (4-4) outscored Spokane 20-7 in the third period as Morris hit Mike Washington on touchdown passes of 31 and 34 yards to tie the game at 34 after three.

D.J. Hall gave Pittsburgh a 41-34 lead on a 7-yard touchdown reception, but the Shock answered on a 1-yard run by Clay Harrell to tie the game at 41 with 4:26 remaining.

Kyle Rowley threw an interception in the final 30 seconds for Spokane as the expansion Power and former Chicago Bears kicker Paul Edinger capped the scoring with a 45-yard field goal with 15 seconds remaining to give former Shock coach Chris Siegfried the win over his former team.

Morris completed 18 of 33 passes for 226 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for two more.

Rowley finished the game 19 of 44 for 244 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions for Spokane, which hosts Dallas on Saturday at the Spokane Arena.
