Idaho prison agency cites possible double billing

| May 8, 2011 9:00 PM

BOISE (AP) - An Idaho Department of Correction official says the agency is working to negotiate a settlement with a contractor that the agency said billed Idaho for work it did for Alaska on a system the two states use for tracking inmates.

The Idaho Statesman reported that Correction Director Brent Reinke in a memo emailed Friday told the agency's 1,600 employees that an internal investigation was referred to the Ada County prosecutors.

But Reinke said in the email that prosecutors determined there wasn't enough evidence to pursue prosecution.

The Idaho Statesman obtained a copy of the investigation by the Office of Professional Standards on Tuesday after submitting a public records request on April 19.

CRI Advantage Inc. of Boise and subcontractor AnalyzeSoft Inc. of Boise declined to comment to the newspaper.
