POST FALLS - Senior Darnell Metcalf hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to lift the Post Falls Trojans past the Lakeland Hawks in a nonleague game on Wednesday at Post Falls High.

"It was a quick game," Post Falls coach Mick Zeller said. "There was a lot of first-pitch swinging by both teams and not a lot of deep counts. Tyler pitched a very efficient game, didn't allow a walk and threw to contact and we played great defense behind him."

Zack Reeder and Riley Denney had two hits apiece for Post Falls (7-9), which travels to Coeur d'Alene on Friday.

"We had a couple of tough losses against Coeur d'Alene yesterday (Tuesday)," Zeller said. "It was nice to come out and get a win and some confidence built up again going to play Coeur d'Alene again on Friday."

Eric Cooper and Tyler Burnett had two hits apiece for Lakeland (9-11), which hosts Moscow on Thursday in a 4A Inland Empire League doubleheader.
