Garments up for bid

| May 5, 2011 9:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - Ladies, you're not bidding on the pecs.

You're bidding on what's covering them.

Either way, rev your engines, the inaugural Bras on Dudes fundraiser kicks off Saturday, where a dozen firemen and Best Buy employees will model, dance and otherwise excite the crowd wearing bras that are up for bid.

The garments are, not the boys.

And it's all in the name of charity.

"The firemen are excited, they want to participate and they know it's going to a good cause," said Ronnie Carder, Relay for Life Committee chair helping organize the event.

Proceeds are going to Coeur d'Alene Relay for Life Cancer Society.

The models, all in their 20s and 30s, aren't just eye candy. They've got personality to boot, Carder said, so interaction with the crowd will be a must. They'll dance to the beat of DJ Montoya with Ruby Frog entertainment. Their bras all start at $50. They each have different themes, as community members got creative decorating them for the cause, including Yankee Doodle Dandy, Hawaiian and naughty and nice themes.

Fifteen top wears will be modeled.

"We asked the guys to have fun with the crowd," Carder said.

The inaugural event begins at 7 p.m. Saturday at Fedora Pub and Grille on Kathleen Avenue. Tickets, available at Fedora Pub, Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Hayden Inland Northwest Bank locations, are $25 each or $40 for a couple.

There will also be a silent auction with gift baskets and certificates, live music and a social hour.

Men, you're invited too.

"It's going to be G-rated," Carder said "But you know, it's going to be directed obviously toward the women."
