UNION: Stance dilutes message

| June 29, 2011 10:00 PM

Congratulations to Firefighters Clark and Hyder for receiving the Idaho Medal of Honor. Too bad they chose to dilute the honor with a sniveling diatribe on their perceived, possible, maybe, sort of could happen, some type of limit on their collective bargaining.

We all love firefighters, however, their selfish article was very inappropriate and horribly timed. According to the Coeur d'Alene Press, unemployment in North Idaho is at 14 percent. These guys are fortunate to have such a secure and good paying job with such generous benefits. The quarter page "justification" article for their "Union" really did not set well with so many begging for jobs. My sympathy level for them on a scale of 1 to 10 is at minus 6. So I say back to Mr. Clark and Mr. Hyder, stop whining, be thankful you have a secure job and as you so aptly put it, "Keep politics out of public safety."
