IRONMAN: Traffic decision is lacking

I realize that Ironman is a great event for this town but I would like to know the logic and the lack of intelligence that goes into closing the intersection of U.S. 95 and Appleway when the race is on Government Way. I don't mind being somewhat inconvenienced but closing that intersection is just asinine, especially when it's manned by a bunch of people who have really no clue on how to move traffic. Again, I would like someone to explain the logic behind this moronic decision. I do expect an answer.
