FLAG: Don't cheapen Old Glory

The Fourth of July is almost upon us. For all those who think it cool to wear our National Emblem as a necktie, T-shirt, shorts, ball cap or some other piece of wearing apparel, (and for those decorating floats for the big parade) allow me to direct their attention to the Flag Code, Sec. 8d. It reads, "The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding or drapery. It should never be festooned, drawn back, nor up, in folds, but always allowed to fall free."
Oh, I notice Fred Meyer is now selling a grocery tote decorated to look like our National Emblem. For shame! I refer them to Sec. 8h, which reads, "The flag should never be used as a receptacle for receiving, holding, carrying, or delivering anything."
