Genevieve Hill Dexter, 99

Genevieve Hill Dexter - January 12, 1912, to June 16, 2011 - 99 years...she thought 100 years was too old.

Gee Gee was born to Isaac Alexander Hill and Ocie Joyce Hill on Jan. 4, 1912, in Rialto, Calif. Her family included her sister, Beulad, and brother Leonard.

She graduated from San Bernardino High School and went to work at the San Bernardino Medical Building for Dr. Tysinger. While working there she met and fell in love with a handsome firefighter, Harmon Dexter. They decided to marry and then eloped to Arizona and were married on Nov. 2, 1931. They had one son, William.

Gee Gee was a stay at home mom for many years until she went to work as a bookkeeper for Harris & Frank Clothiers. Her husband Harmon was a Battalion Chief and Master Mechanic for San Bernardino's Fire Dept. Their son, Bill, followed in his father's footsteps in the fire service. He was a Battalion Chief and State Forest Ranger for the Calif. Dept of Forestry.

Gee Gee is survived by her son Bill and his wife Jan; grandson Steven and his wife Ginelle of Murrieta, Calif., and grandson John of Chicago, Ill.; Great grandchildren Zachary, Nathaniel, Benjamin, Jacob and Rachel.

Gee Gee and her husband were married for over 50 happy years until his death in 1983. The absolute light of her life was her son and her two grandsons. And later her five great-grandchildren added much happiness for her. She will be so missed by all her family.

Her family would like to thank the entire staff of Four Seasons, Assisted Living Winter House for their exceptionally kind and loving care of our Gee Gee. Very special thanks to Dawn, Amber, Shea, Angel, Mary Anne, Judy, Wanda and of course sweet Sue. The entire staff gave her the love and care they would give their own family. Many thanks to Hospice of North Idaho for their kind assistance.
