SECURITY: Dollars not working for us

Almost daily, we hear government officials and politicians complaining about the tremendous problems the country is facing with a shortage of Social Security funds.

So the leaders decide they should waste millions of dollars for television advertising with our local celebrity Patty Duke and the 'dingo' from Star Wars, to tell more people to call the Social Security Administration.

Not only is the ad not well written, but channels play it a lot.

I want to know about what happened to the old policy where you had to pay into the system when you were working, and receive funds out of the system when you retire. It seems like anyone today can get Social Security payments for almost any reason. Do you have any idea how many attorneys make a fabulous living representing only Social Security clients? Also, the money paid to these wealthy attorneys comes from Social Security payments made to their clients.

This is a great country.
