Michael E. 'Mike' Zimmer, 61

Feb. 19, 1950 - May 26, 2011

A veteran of Vietnam, father and 33-year resident of Post Falls; born in Milwaukee, Wis., on Feb. 19, 1950, and peacefully passed away from cancer at the age of 61 on May 26, 2011, surrounded by family, at the Spokane Veterans Affairs Community Living Center.

Preceded in death by his father, Ralph A. Zimmer, who was a veteran of World War II, and one grandchild.

He is survived by his mother, Sarah E. Dickison, sister Pamela Zimmer, both of Boise; daughter Erica Waechter of Tacoma, Wash.; son Dustin Zimmer of Athol; and four grandchildren.

Remembrances may be made in memory of Michael E. Zimmer to your local Department of Veteran Affairs. The family wishes to say THANK YOU, to all the VA doctors and nurses who cared for Michael in Seattle, Portland, Ore., and Spokane, also to all his wonderful supportive friends.

Celebration of Life memorial for Mike Zimmer will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at the Evergreen Cemetery, 2834 N. Spokane St., Post Falls, at the Veterans, Police and Firefighters Memorial Wall.

Mike Zimmer will be dearly missed, may he R.I.P.
