Alberta Joy Grimm, 78

| June 13, 2011 10:00 PM

Former owner of "The Happy Hour Supper Club."

Alberta was born in Kansas on July 20, 1932, where she grew up on the farm until 1946 when her family moved to Burlington, Colo. She graduated from Burlington High School in 1950. Alberta graduated from Colorado Women's College in 1952.

While working for a law firm in Denver, Alberta met Lee Grimm who captured her heart and they were married in 1960. They moved to Blackfoot where Alberta was the personnel manager at the American Potato Company. In 1961 Alberta and Lee welcomed their daughter Cheri Lea to the world and remained in Blackfoot until their move to Coeur d'Alene in 1967.

Alberta and Lee were the proud owners of the highly patronized and successful "Happy Hour Supper Club." They were very financially supportive of the Kootenai Fair and the 4-H club by purchasing the Grand Champion Lamb or Swine every year.

For their golden years, they moved to Elizabeth, Colorado to be near Cheri and the rest of Alberta's family in 1993.

After Lee's death, Alberta remained in her home where she enjoyed views of Pikes Peak all the way to Denver, herds of deer that would graze in the front yard and a pond filled with beautiful koi that she lovingly tended.

Alberta passed away May 28, 2011, in the comfort of her own home with the love and care of her daughter as well as the support of friends and family.

We will miss her dearly and enjoy her strong spirit and business mind that lives on in Cheri. Cheers to you Alberta... Cheers to you!

Service to be held Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Fairview Cemetery in Burlington, Colo.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Shalom Hospice, of whom we appreciate their great care of Alberta, 14800 E. Belleview Drive, Aurora, CO 80015.
