FLAGS: Flying high in Spirit Lake

| June 5, 2011 10:00 PM

This is a rebuttal to the Readers Write letter "Flag" in your newspaper on Wednesday, June 1. I would like to suggest that Mr. Don Sizer clean up his own town (Post Falls) before he criticizes Spirit Lake's proud display of the American flag.

I have observed that they have been flying at night a lot more American flags than we currently do. As for our elected officials being "ignorant" and having no "common sense," have you ever considered that maybe they like flying the flag as well as the rest of us citizens here in Spirit Lake do, as a way of showing respect and gratitude to our veterans?

In closing, let me make a suggestion. The next time you are driving around in our neck of the woods, if the flying of the American flag 24 hours bothers you so much, take another route around our little town where our "Patriotism" runs "Dam" high! I will continue to fly both (2) of my flags until the day that I die.
