John Boyd Houlihan Sr., 68

| July 27, 2011 10:00 PM

John Houlihan Sr., also known as "Houli," was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Grants Pass, Ore., and went to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior on July 14, 2011.

John is survived by his wife, Kathy; two brothers, Robert Houlihan and Fred Anderson; his two sons, John Jr. and James; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

John led a full life, which included hunting, fishing and owning multiple businesses. Prior to moving to North Idaho he owned a charter sport fishing boat The Gallilean in San Diego, Calif. Once in Idaho he opened Houli's Latte Shop next to the Rose Lake Junction and Houli's Kettle Corn outside the Wholesale Sports in Coeur d'Alene.

During the summer months he captained a sport fishing charter boat in Homer and Seward, Alaska, to keep his family and friends stocked well in fish. John also used his stockpile of salmon and halibut as a bargaining chip to secure new hunting grounds in Canada.

He had many goals/dreams and was lucky enough to see them all fulfilled. John always put his family first and would do anything to help a stranger in need. He had many friends, young and old in the community as well as Canada and Alaska. John will be greatly missed by all.

Please join us for his Celebration of Life service held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at Coeur d'Alene Assembly of God, 2200 N. Seventh St., Coeur d'Alene.
