PARADE: Don't forget our fathers

| July 10, 2011 10:00 PM

The recent Press editorial touts the Fourth of July "Heroes" parade as one to remember. But in all its color, spectacle and military bravado, it seems to have forgotten one important group. I didn't see one item in the parade - not one - commemorating the original heroes of the day, our Founding Fathers, who in 1776 risked their lives with the treasonous act of signing a "Declaration of Independence" from the British crown.

We should never forget the historic importance of July 4, and the true reason we celebrate the day. Call me old fashioned, but perhaps the parade needs to get back on track.
