| January 31, 2011 1:23 PM

Allen Paul Hoialmen, 70, went to be with his heavenly father on Jan. 22, 2011, due to complications from diabetes at Kootenai Medical Center. Allen was born on June 30, 1940, in Fosston, Minn., to Adolph and Pearl Hoialmen.

Allen graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 1958. Shortly thereafter, in 1960, he married Sharon Fields. They were blessed with three children: James, John and daughter Lorie. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 24, 2010.

Allen also served as a sergeant in the National Guard.

Allen worked many years for Diamond International as a supervisor and then went on to work at Louisiana Pacific.

He enjoyed fishing, walking his beloved dog, Shelby, helping others and attending Family Life Center Church.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Sharon; three children: James (Jim) Hoialmen of Post Falls, John of Coeur d'Alene and Lorie Rogers of Lake Almanor, Calif.; six grandchildren: Tanner, Kim, Anthony, Dallas, Darian and Randi; and three siblings: Phil Hoialmen and Rose Pickering of Coeur d'Alene, and Barbara McDowell of Post Falls.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend; he was a very humble man ready to help at all times.

A celebration of Allen's life will be held later this spring.
