GIRLS: Cd'A can be proud of theirs

| January 30, 2011 9:00 PM

Your community has a role model that every girl athlete needs to copy. Formerly a Coeur d'Alene H.S. basketball player, Kama Griffitts, she plays now for NIC. Does she have a god-given athletic body? Yep! But what separates her is her work ethic and competitive drive. After the game, when most other players are going out to have fun, where's Kama? In the gym shooting for an hour or so. She was a highly sought after two-time Idaho Player of the Year who attended NIC and will attend the University of Arizona this fall. Everyone would love to have her for their daughter, in all ways !

We in Lewiston are also very proud of Kiki Edwards, currently at NIC also before going on to a scholarship next year at Portland University. She has really worked hard to get her skills up to the NCAA level also.

The recent Press article on Sydni Butler (Lake City girls star) is well deserved credit for her dedication. Very few girls are four-year varsity players. My granddaughter, a player for Lewiston, has very high respect for her tenacity on the court. Should both teams get to the Idaho State Tournament, we do hope that she gets the 24-hour flu if we play them. (Laugh out loud.)

The Coeur d'Alene area has many excellent girl athletes to be proud of.
