DRIVE: Raised record amount

The students and staff of Post Falls High School would like to thank the Post Falls community as well as the following businesses - Century Publishing, Anderson Bros. CPA, Sound Industries and Caruso's Sandwich Company for their generous contributions to our annual Prairie Pig Food Drive. Because of your donations we were able to exceed our goal and raise a Prairie Pig record setting amount of food for the Post Falls Food Bank.

CLUB: Dinner was a success

KC's Breakfast Club, of Post Falls, would like to thank everyone for making our second Christmas day dinner a success. We couldn't have done it without the generous help of our co-workers, customers, friends and the whole community. Santa was here and we had enough gifts for all the kids to get two, and we had plenty of delicious food and desserts for everybody that was able to come. Hope we see you all again next year. The need is great, and we know that we helped a lot of people.

Post Falls

STUDENTS: Given in-person lesson

Twenty students at Sorensen Magnet School truly experienced "hands-on" learning as they worked with a local artist, Rachel Dolezal, in recreating Rembrandt's Self-Portrait.

Rather than learning about art history from a book, the kids were given an in-person lesson in the art history period - Baroque. The end result? A collaborative student-created painting that will end up hanging on a local business's wall for our whole community to enjoy. I applaud Sorensen Magnet School and the Coeur d'Alene School District for offering our students schools of choice and for creating local artist in residency opportunities for the kids of Coeur d'Alene.

It is great community partnerships such as these that makes Coeur d'Alene a wonderful place to live, work and educate our children. Keep up the good work of making a quality learning experience fun and meaningful.
