Passenger allegedly hits Citylink driver

| January 29, 2011 8:00 PM

COEUR d'ALENE - A teenage girl was cited for battery after a reported confrontation with a Citylink bus driver around 5:15 p.m. Thursday.

April R. Guinn, 18, of Coeur d'Alene told police she was sitting on a bus when someone "wiped their hand across her face," according to a Coeur d'Alene Police report. Guinn took offense and said, "Don't (expletive) touch me."

At that point the driver stopped the bus and told Guinn to get off, the report said. As she was walking down the aisle, Guinn bumped into the driver.

Guinn said the bump was an accident, and "she was just trying to get past the driver," the report said. She said the driver blocked most of the aisle and made physical contact difficult to avoid.

Police found Guinn walking north on Government Way after she had left the bus. She was issued a ticket for battery and released, police said. The bus driver was also questioned and said she wanted to press charges.

A witness said Guinn and a group of eight or nine teens were being loud and swearing often. She said she asked the bus driver to "tell them to clean it up back there." The driver warned the teens repeatedly, she said.

When the bus stopped at Shopko on Government Way, the driver told Guinn to get off. Guinn then hit the driver in the chest, the witness said.
