Chiefs hold off Bruins, Johnson extends streak

SPOKANE - Steve Kuhn scored a goal and had two assists as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Chilliwack Bruins 5-3 in front of 7,521 at the Spokane Arena in Western Hockey League action on Friday night.

Former Coeur d'Alene Laker Tyler Johnson had a goal and assist, extending his points streak to 16 games.

The teams were tied 2-all following the first period before the Bruins took a 3-2 lead on a power-play goal 16 seconds into the second.

Spokane's Darren Kramer scored on a shot from the right side to tie the game 3-all. Matt Marantz scored on a backhand at the 7-minute mark of the second period to put Spokane on top for good.

Johnson's 37th goal of the season capped the scoring in the third period for Spokane (31-12-4-3, 68 points), which moves one point behind first-place Portland in the U.S. Division.

Spokane hosts Tri-City tonight at 7 at the Spokane Arena.
