Steven Martin Weinstein

| January 24, 2011 12:18 PM

Steven Martin Weinstein finally lost his fight with cancer on Jan. 22, 2011, after a yearlong battle. Steven was born in Chicago, Ill., to Robert Weinstein and Muriel (Mickey) Wolfson. He was the oldest of three children.

Steve was Bar Mitzvah'd in 1964 in Reseda, Calif., from Temple Beth Ami. Steve graduated from Van Nuys High School in California and attended classes at the local college. Steve then served in the Army.

Steve's passion in life was books and he worked until one year ago at the Bookworm in Coeur d'Alene. He married Nanette Fayssoux in December 1971 and they had two children: James and Melinda. Steve decided to bring his family to Coeur d'Alene where he and Nan finally divorced, but remained best of friends.

Steve is survived by his son, Elymelech Sheinfeld of Montreal, Canada; daughter Melinda Frank; his grandsons: Christopher Lane-Patrick and Douglas Gene; his fiancee, Lynn Northrup; his best friend and ex-wife, Nan Fayssoux; his sister, Beverly Roots, all of Coeur d'Alene; his other sister, Shannon Leon of Springfield, Ore., and numerous other relatives and good friends.

He was preceded in death by both his parents.

A memorial will be held in July at the family's request. The family is asking for any donations to be made to Hospice of North Idaho in lieu of flowers.
